Submit Student Travel Grant Nominations

This year the Association will offer up to 120 travel grants of $1,500 each to doctoral students to help defray the costs of attending our 2014 Annual Meeting to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Any current AFA member in the U.S. or abroad is invited to nominate one student, whom he or she has taught or supervised, to be considered for this award.
The student must be a student member of the Association (student on line memberships are available free at http://www.afajof.org/view/join01.html), must be beyond the first year in her or his doctoral studies in finance, financial economics, or a related field; and must not be on the job market during the academic year in which the grant is made. Nominations may be made for students living in or near the meeting site, but the award for such students will be limited to the meeting registration fee. No student may participate in this grant program more than once.
A nomination may be emailed by August 31, 2013 to AFA Vice President, Professor Patrick Bolton at firstname.lastname@example.org. The nomination can also be completed by filling out the 2013 AFA Travel Grant Nomination Form.
The students to receive grants will be selected and announced by the Vice President by mid-September, 2013. The selections will be based on recommendations as well as the distribution of past and present awards among the accredited programs.
Award checks will be delivered to the selected students at the annual meeting if a tax/address form is completed before the annual meeting or by mail subsequently if the form is completed at the annual meeting.
