The 2012 Impact Factors have been released by Thomson Reuters. The Journal of Finance's Impact Factor increased from 4.218 in 2011 to 4.333 in 2012. JF is now ranked 1st out of 86 journals in the Business, Finance category and 3rd out of 332 journals in the Economics category.

For both of the one-year and five-year impact factor rankings for all economics journals, the JF ranked #3 behind the Journal of Economic Literature and the Quarterly Journal of Economics. The JF moved from #4 in 2011 to #3 in 2012 for the one-year factor and maintained the #3 position for the five-year impact.

For the total citations category, the JF ranked #3 behind the American Economic Review and Econometrica. The JF also ranked #3 in 2011.

The JF is #1 in one-year impact, five-year impact, and total citations among all finance journals.
