    Principal accountabilities:

    • Undertake high-quality research and policy analysis on financial markets, corporate finance or banking as well as on the      interaction between the financial system and the macroeconomy
    • Monitor global financial market developments across the globe
    • Provide analytical support for the Basel-based committees and meetings of high-level central bank officials
    • Contribute to the BIS publications, in particular Working Papers, the Annual Report and the Quarterly Review
    • Publish research findings in academic journals
    • Represent the BIS at international meetings and conferences; establish and maintain professional contacts with the central banking and academic communities as well as with the private sector.

    Qualification required:

    • PhD in economics or finance from a university of international standing (or equivalent experience)
    • Track record in high-quality, policy-relevant research

    Work experience required:

    • A minimum of six years of relevant experience after final degree, preferably including several years in a senior position at a central bank or international financial institution
    • Close exposure to monetary and/or macroeconomic policy analysis and formulation highly desirable
    • Proven track record in undertaking research on policy issues; publications in refereed journals

    Skills required:

    • Very good knowledge of financial economics and experience in analysing topics in this field at a central bank, international institution, university of international standing or major financial firm; flexibility in applying economic analysis to unfamiliar issues and with limited data; resourcefulness in collecting data
    • Excellent drafting and communication skills in English for both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Self-starter, curious, team player; able to work independently as well as in small teams
