    The Department of Finance and Insurance ( is one of the constituent departments that contribute to the undergraduate programme of Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) degree.  The Department offers a major in finance and a major in risk and insurance management.

    The appointee is expected to teach, engage in research, provide leadership, and develop industry relationships in the area of insurance. Teaching experience in insurance is required (e.g., property and liability insurance, health and life insurance, reinsurance, and legal and accounting aspects of insurance).

    General Requirements

    Candidates should have a PhD degree in risk and insurance management.  Ideally, the appointee will also have working experience in the insurance industry, have professional qualifications in insurance (e.g., ACII, ANZIIF, LOMA), and be active in the profession.  For appointment as a Professor, candidates should have substantial research and teaching experience with significant recent scholarly publications in leading journals and academic achievements.  For appointment as an Associate Professor, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience and a strong track record in research and scholarly activities.  The appointee will be expected to provide supervision for MPhil and PhD Students and to mentor and collaborate with junior faculty on research projects.

    The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.

    Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, is renewable for longer-term appointment or substantiation. For new appointee at the rank of Professor, appointment with substantiation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
