    The Department of Commerce and Business at Rhodes College invites applications and nominations for a tenured appointment as Department Chair at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, beginning in August 2014. The position includes appointment as the James D. Robinson Chair, which provides additional funding for research and faculty development.

    The Department of Commerce and Business' faculty share the responsibility for a Bachelor of Arts program that offers both a major and minor in Commerce and Business as well as a Master of Science in Accounting. The Department offers one of the most popular programs on campus and boasts an exceptional placement record at leading companies, including FedEx, Raymond James, Goldman Sachs, Dell Computer and all "Big Four" accounting firms.

    The Chair will have the opportunity to build upon a successful platform and expand the reach and impact of the Commerce and Business Program. The Chair has oversight of the department's programs, curriculum, faculty, and staff and will advocate for the department and oversee the development of any new programs. In doing so the Chair will develop and maintain relationships with external partners (such as internship providers and employers) and will also develop and teach courses in the candidate's area of expertise that contribute to the department's curriculum.

    Candidates will be expected to have an earned doctorate in a relevant business discipline, a distinguished record of research and publication, college teaching experience, and attainment of tenure as well as administrative experience appropriate for appointment as Department Chair.
