    University of Massachusetts Lowell

    The Robert J. Manning School of Business (MSB) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a new faculty member in the field of finance to engage in mission-related teaching, research, and service. The primary field of specialization can be either investments or corporate finance.

    The MSB's mission is to deliver exceptional teaching, learning, and research experiences in our Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. programs that prepare our graduates for the competitive global business environment.

    The MSB is building faculty capacity to deepen its research productivity and build program offerings at all degree levels. The Finance group is responsible for several academic programs. It offers a Ph.D. degree in Finance, a Finance concentration in the MBA, and a Finance concentration in the BSBA programs. A new Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program is currently under development. In addition, the Finance group offers a Certificate in Financial Management. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in (1) teaching in the Ph.D. program, (2) the growth of the various Master’s and Bachelor’s programs, and (3) the ongoing development of the department and School.

    The MSB has over 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students and is accredited by AACSB-International. Classes are taught on-campus, online and, increasingly, abroad. Faculty members regularly earn teaching load reductions for the publication of high-quality research, and have access to WRDS. The teaching load for research productive faculty members can be as low as 2/2 per academic year. Ample opportunities are available to become involved in mission-related research and instructional activities and develop productive partnerships with other units of the University, with industry, and with colleagues from other institutions and countries.

    Minimum Required Qualifications:
    -Completed doctorate in finance from an AACSB-accredited business school (must have completed doctorate by date of appointment, September 2014)
    -Evidence of ongoing peer-reviewed publication(s), or articles in late-state revision in any of the following areas: investments and/or corporate finance, international finance, or financial issues related to innovation and new venture creation
    -A record of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate degree levels

    Preferred Qualifications:
    -A record of high-quality publications in the field of specialization
    -A record of high quality teaching
    -Experience supervising doctoral students
    -Industrial, corporate or new venture experience
    -Commitment to develop and sustain an externally funded research program
    -Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to speak and write English clearly
    -Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, industry, and diverse populations
    -Experience teaching online or web-enhanced courses
