We have a unique opportunity for an intermediate- to senior- level Financial Analyst to work with our Rates/Regulatory team in contributing to the ability of EPCOR Water to satisfy their financial requirements and provide management with information to make prudent financial decisions within regulatory requirements. You would become accountable for regulatory reporting and preparing financial information and operational data necessary for filing rate applications to the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).
The successful candidate will provide support to the regulatory process by preparing filings to the ACC that either request appropriate revenues, comply with regulatory mandates, or defend against positions that are contrary to the Company’s mission with a focus on filings that concentrate on the financial aspects of the business. You will work with our Rates/Regulatory team to analyze, and interpret financial and economic information related to utility operations and capital recovery. You would be responsible for developing recommendations for cost recovery as well as testifying on proper utility policies, rates, and economics.
Duties include preparing and submitting timely and accurate regulatory compliance filings and compiling financial information and operational data to satisfy the standard filing requirements necessary for filing rate applications with the Arizona Corporation Commission. You would prepare sections of regulatory applications and complete written testimony and exhibits with supporting papers, as well as respond to interrogatories and testimony. The Rates/Regulatory group is an important function within each regulated utility. It incorporates the disciplines of accounting, economics, engineering and law.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field. Advanced degree or CPA preferred. In addition to education/certification, we require 8-10+ years of pertinent regulatory experience. Water utility industry a plus. Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills, strong communication skills, both written and verbal skills; and strong time management and organizing skills required. You must have solid knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and understanding of analytical concepts for financial analysis as well as US GAAP accounting practices. Skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel is also required.
