    The GRI Risk Education Strategy is focused on deepening the understanding of integrative risk topics, issues and emerging concerns and broadening the risk education platforms for both the public and private sectors. These goals will be met through the development of new integrative programs, or by supplementing existing programs, to address identified gaps in the available educational offerings. GRI’s efforts will result in the promotion of risk education programs and educational institution capacity and capability for both education and research in Ontario and Canada.

    Reporting and Working Relationships
    • The Director, Education will report to the Managing Director, Education (the MD, Education)
    • The Director, Education will work with the MD, Education and colleagues in Research, including the Managing Director, Research and, as and if requested, the President and CEO of GRI
    • In the course of the Director’s assignments, there will be the need to work and interact with stakeholders in academia, financial institutions and policy-setting and regulatory authorities

    Major Responsibilities
    • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Identification of gaps in risk education offerings through competitive surveys and reviews and through discussions with academics active in the field, GRI members and risk management professionals;
    • Development of integrative risk content including, as appropriate, case studies and simulations;
    • Ongoing review of GRI offerings and development of new education materials and enhancements to existing materials;
    • Work in partnership, and maintain strong relationships, with other organizations that offer complementary capabilities to develop and deliver risk programs including degree programs, workshops and discussion forums; and
    • Work with the MD, Education, the MD, Research and the MD, Membership and Communication to determine effective ways to disseminate emerging risk concepts and understanding developed by GRI to its members, the risk community and the public.

    Core Competencies and Qualifications:
    • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
    • 15+ years’ first-hand experience in risk management as a practitioner with a high degree of risk literacy and knowledge in topical streams of integrated risk management
    • Demonstrated orientation toward education and professional development including the design, development and delivery of risk courses and educational programs
    • Superior analytical skills at both a strategic and tactical level
    • A demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in highly complex situations, to manage competing priorities and to rank strategic priorities
    • Knowledge of relevant public sector institutions and public policy-making processes would be an asset • Master’s or equivalent professional degree/designation required
