  Director of Research
  Department: Clifton – Portfolio Management

  General Description
  The Director of Research is responsible for formulating projects, leading analysis, and quantitative modeling which support Clifton’s investment offerings, new product development, and other research project requests.

  Primary Responsibilities
  • Construct data sets and perform quantitative analysis to support research, marketing, and product development projects
  • Create new investment products and develop prototypes
  • Publish research papers for broad distribution and publication in leading financial journals
  • Develop mathematical and statistical algorithms to support portfolio management
  • Work closely and collaborate with the investment team and other groups throughout the company
  • Present complex material to staff, clients, investment advisors, consultants, and at industry conferences

  Job Requirements
  PHD or Masters in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics plus 10 years related work experience.

  Strong knowledge in:
  • Investment management industry
  • Statistics, portfolio theory, investments, and finance
  • Computer programming
  • Excel, Matlab, R, CPLEX, FactSet, Bloomberg, and/or statistical tools that allow for quantitative modeling and analysis
  • Quantitative modeling, optimization, simulation, derivatives, and portfolio construction

  Desired attributes:
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex material to staff, clients, investment advisors, consultants, and at industry conferences
  • The ability to work autonomously, as well as coordinate and manage research projects
  • Proven ability to multi-task
