POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team of professionals. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist in maintaining and processing the receipt and handling of information related to budget matters including E&G, Research Enhancement and discretionary funds.
• Assists with the development and maintains the College of Medicine's operating budget and approved expenditures. Ensures that expenditures stay within allocation. Resolves problems related with the processing of budget requests.
• Interprets fiscal, university, and state policies to ensure compliance. Assists College units by providing policy interpretation, information, assistance pertaining to budgets and personnel matters, the application of the University fiscal policy, and other College policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with the Executive Associate Deans, Chairpersons and various University and non-University personnel in the development and implementation of budget and financial activities. Works with the Executive Associate Dean for Finance and Administration on planning and accountability.
• Contacts appropriate departments to ensure timely monthly end closings and reconciliations of office accounts. Communicates the Colleges financial policies to department budget managers as appropriate.
• Provides variance analysis for Education and General, Research Enhancement and discretionary funds to all department heads and senior management on a monthly basis. Provide detailed personnel analysis with the ability to categorize between filled and unfilled positions for variance analysis purposes.
• Monitors, compiles and maintains college’s salary personnel analysis as they relate to the budget. Recommends new or improved processes to effectively manage the development and tracking of budgeted positions in the College.
• Reconciles ADP payroll system to Panthersoft General Ledger and Budget Ledger. Initiates corrective action to ensure consistency and integrity of data across systems. Maintains documentation to support entries into the Panthersoft Budget System.
• Contacts appropriate departments to ensure timely monthly end closings and reconciliations of office accounts. Communicates the Colleges financial policies to department budget managers as appropriate.
• Prepares salary reports and analysis for departments and management. Maintains, reconciles, and reports on the Colleges salary float system. Serves as contact in all matters related to the salary float.
• Builds relationship with units to help them manage and understand budgets by meeting with them monthly and providing them with the monthly financial reports.
• Serves as Pro Card approver for several departments in the College of Medicine. Assists in the preparation of annual budget. Oversees the integrity of data salary position data entry in the budget tool.
• Assists the department of financial planning in special projects as needed. Conducts special cost and or budgetary studies, analysis findings, and prepares recommendations concerning budget improvements.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in an appropriate specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience.
