The Financial Globalisation and Sustainable Finance Conference will be held in Cape Town on May 29-31, 2013. The conference is being co-sponsored by the European Centre for Corporate Engagement (ECCE) at the Maastricht University and the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) and will take place on the Cape Town campus of USB. Bill Megginson (University of Oklahoma) and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria) have agreed to participate as keynote speakers. A special issue of the Journal of Banking and Finance on the conference theme will be published under the guest editorship of the conference co-chairs and authors whose papers are accepted for presentation at the conference are encouraged to submit their papers for the JBF special issue.
We are soliciting manuscript submissions on a broad array of subjects. The intention is to investigate (the links between) financial stability and sustainable finance from various perspectives, with research based in macro-, micro- and institutional economics as well as corporate finance and financial markets. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. We also welcome proposals for complete sessions. Topics of interest include but are not limited to financial policy and regulation, macro-economic policies in the global economy, the role of finance in economic growth and development, international capital flows and foreign direct investment, the role of development finance institutions and instrument, the role of engagement, and corporate governance and the role of institutional investors.
