  • 2010 Student Travel Grants 
    This year the Association will offer up to 120 travel grants of $1,500 each to doctoral students to help defray the costs of attending our Annual Meeting to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, January 3-5, 2010.  Any current AFA member in the U.S. or abroad is invited to nominate one student, whom he or she has taught or supervised, to be considered for this award. Nominations must be made by August 1, 2009. For details on the grants and a nomination form, please click here..

  • Fischer Black Prize
    The Association is pleased to announce the awarding of the 2009 Fischer Black prize to Harrison Hong of Princeton University.


  • Education Initiative: Psychology and Personal Finance
    As noted previously in AFA News, the AFA Board has been examining various initiatives to enhance broad-based financial education. One of those initiatives is Shlomo Benartzi's UCLA course Psychology and Personal Finance. Professor Benartzi has kindly given us permission to provide a link to his course outline and associated documents. To access that link, please click here.


  • AFA History Project
    Video interviews with Harry Markowitz, Robert Merton,  Paul Samuelson, Myron Scholes, William Sharpe and Jack Treynor are available on the History of Finance page. 


  • Worldwide Directory of Finance Faculty:
    The AFA and the Department of Finance at Ohio State University have entered into a joint venture to maintain and enhance the finance faculty directory held on the OSU web site. At present, information on over 3,000 finance professors and professionals is available in the directory. An effort is being made to include all AFA members on this list and members are encouraged to provide information to the directory manager.
